DOWNLOAD: Heavy Hawaii - Teen Angel

While Heavy Hawaii has a tome of a press release—likening their ‘60s-style Cali creep-rock to Manson, Wilson, and a zombie recast of the movie Grease—nowhere does it say that half the band used to share the stage with Nathan Williams before he was bka as the polarizing force Wavves. While that fact does give some context, the truth is this sound is not that sound, and these guys are not that guy. Heavy Hawaii is more porous, fluid, and at times, even celebratory. “Teen Angel” is classic pop with a death rattle, an irresistible sing-a-long as weird and as wrong as ‘Ring Around The Rosie.’ The candy-colored debut vinyl from which it sprang is called HH, now in limited pressing on Art Fag.
