PREMIERE: J-WOW - Fogo/Spark (Canblaster Remix)
...in which a French club loon takes two J-WOW originals and melds them into one sprawling, mentalist whole. Out together on October 19 through Enchufada ("Spark" the A-side, "Fogo" on the B), the two originals obviously impressed Canblaster so much that he felt unable to leave any part of them out: the five-minute workout taking in panicking acid house synths, strict 808 snare thwacks and muscular clenches of dubstep bass. As one quarter of Lisbon-based Buraka Som Sistema—whose love of Angolan kuduro music is well documented—J-WOW's used to casting his ears abroad for wilder sounds, but the thrust of "Fogo/Spark" is so restless you can't imagine it coming from anywhere other than the mind of one producer alone at home, Canblaster's modem bombarding him with influences from Japan (Shinichiro Watanabe), Detroit (Underground Resistance) and London (Night Slugs).
