PREMIERE: Abe Vigoda - Throwing Shade (Max Tundra Remix)
As ever, the title of Abe Vigoda's new album proves instructive. Where 2006's Kid City was the sound of young noise fighting to find its niche, and 2008's Skeleton boasted guitars that chimed like rung, rattling rib cages, their latest biennial effort Crush arrives sad-eyed and heart sore. This Max Tundra remix of "Throwing Shade" lightens the original, swathing it in sashaying party synths and electronic glimmer, but there's no hiding the longing in that voice, especially when it resonates so hard with mine as I sit in this darkened room waiting and wailing and gnashing my teeth for the release of Crush through Bella Union on September 20.
