A lot of people loved Sleater-Kinney. As in, wholehearted, obsessive adoration. And since the Northwest staples called it a day in 2006, that devoted legion has been wondering if Corin Tucker—the only member to not do much publicly since the split—would maybe, perhaps, some day release some new music. Well, she is—the newly formed Corin Tucker Band, which includes Sarah Lund of Unwound and Seth Lorinczi of Golden Bears, has an LP called 1000 Years due October 5 via Kill Rock Stars. And judging from "Doubt"'s no frills (actually, there's an organ and a fiddle in the coda, but aside from that it's pretty no frills), right-out-the-box bite, it will sound mildly like Sleater-Kinney and wholly like the return of one of indie rock's gnarliest wails. Thirst quenched.
