When Pitchfork reviewed Jaill's new album, That's How We Burn, they said this song, its opener, sounded like The Mooney Suzuki. Do you guys remember that band? They were a terribly kitschy and somewhat fun live, but they sounded nothing like this. This is the opposite of kitsch. This is midwestern resolve (Jaill is from Milwaukee, and has roughly five or six smaller releases to their name) applied to slouchy guitar-rock, buzzing and sharp and drawled out in all the right places. That's How We Burn is in stores now thanks to Sub Pop, thumbing its nose at paltry band comparisons everywhere.
