Black metal obviously isn't our "lane," but Liturgy aren't your run-of-the-mill black metal band. Their barrage is brutal and grating and, yes, sometimes sounds like dying everything, but it also stirs your gut in a way that a lot of blast beat-heavy bands don't. Maybe it's their playing–tight and focused but not 1000% perfect, a refreshing jolt of humanity in these days of edited-to-death metal records. And, at least experientially, their shower of head-clearing, noise-soaked rage is a hell of a lot of fun to listen to.
