RCRD OF THE DAY: Motion City Soundtrack - Cut Your Hair
Considering the hubbub surrounding their current reunion tour, Pavement's cultural relevance (and recognition) is at an all-time high. But still, their fans aren't exactly young. Which is why this cover–recorded for The Onion A.V. Club's "Undercover Series"–of their biggest (only?) hit by younger-fan-having synth-pop juggernaut Motion City Soundtrack is awesome–maybe some of these kids will go out and buy Slanted Enchanted or Crooked Rain. Isn't that what these sort of things are for? To turn maybe-in-the-dark people onto stuff you've always loved?
As for MCS, they're currently out supporting their recent My Dinosaur Life album on this summer's Warped Tour. After that, they'll play take some time off and play Seattle's Bumbershoot Festival. A full, yet-to-be-announced US tour is slated for the Fall–keep an eye on their MySpace page for dates.
