RCRD OF THE DAY: Crocodiles - Sleep Forever
Crocodiles' swimming-in-space garage-pop met an interesting foil in the making of their new album, Sleep Forever–James Ford, one-half of Simian Mobile Disco and producer to artists such as Arctic Monkeys and Klaxons. He and integral Crocs Brandon Welchez and Charles Rowell decamped to a home studio in the Joshua Tree desert, where they set about building the droney, nebulous follow-up to their 2009 debut, Summer Of Hate. The title track is the first fruit it's born, a predictably swirling, floaty, oftentimes beautiful psych odyssey that proves the Joshua Tree's infamous magical hold hasn't faded. Also, that this record will be completely engrossing.
Sleep Forever is out September 14 through Fat Possum.
