Here we thought Mississippi rock dramatists Colour Revolt had mellowed for their new album, The Cradle. Turns out they hadn't–"8 Years" is as tense and throaty as Lewis Black after five helpings of coffee and cigarettes. And even knowing little more than the fact that what was once a quintet is now a duo, it's hard to not see it as a getting-some-stuff-off-their-chest moment, halfway between an explanation and an airing of grievances. Being in a band is tough, apparently! The Cradle is out August 10.
