PREMIERE: Violens - Acid Reign

Violens' agile savant-rock is a tough beast to tame. They sound like a ton of bands–The Psychedelic Furs, Prefab Sprout–and they sound like no other bands. They make a lot of noise for three guys–things appear and disappear in new single "Acid Reign" (wordplay is obviously an interest) relatively quickly; effected piano here, metallic guitar there; chorus explosion here, whippersnapper verse there. It's all very busy, but also very memorable. Confused? Understandable. It's just good, prickly rock music. Violens' debut album, Amoral, is out in October, with "Acid Reign" arriving on July 26 as a self-released 7-inch. They are playing Brooklyn's Northside Festival this Saturday (June 26), and also have a string of shows lined up with MGMT in August. Details on all of those dates are at their MySpace.
