We’ll admit it’s been a bit of a Monarchy explosion here lately, but we had to post this slippery and ominous rework of Kelis’ “Acapella” before the weekend. It’s just so symbolic—Kelis’ velveteen vocals struggle to fly, and Monarchy keeps clipping her wings, pulling the sugary love song down into a dark space, lower and lower, until finally the cage is opened and she’s freed into the night. It’s giving us worker bees a little more patience today. Just a few more hours and we’re free, too!
