RCRD OF THE DAY: Nada Surf - Electrocution
To many, Nada Surf will forever be the poster boys of the alternative anthem “Popular”—whose anti-jock, pitch-perfect video arguably bested the song itself. But, today Nada Surf is enjoying a resurgence that few nineties bands do, and touting their mellower, less angst-ridden rock with a covers album due this week and a giveaway of its lead track. Bill Fox’s “Electrocution” was already a sunny strummer/AM radio classic, and with Nada Surf, it thankfully stays that way. if i had a hi-fi also touts renditions of Spoon, Kate Bush and the late, great Arthur Russell.
