First, the obvious: Mountain Man is not one man with a rifle collection, but three Vermont-dwelling women, all of whom sing like backwoods angels. Their version of traditional American folk is spare and intimate, three voices not so much singing together as they are coalescing into a room-silencing river of silvery tone. Partisan are releasing their new album, Made To Harbor, on July 20, but you can cry along to "Soft Skin" all you want until then.
