Primness abounds in Jeremy Jay's "It Happened Before Our Time"–the arrangement is simple, the instrumentation is direct, and the lyrics sound like a Nick Jr. teleplay written by Stephen Malkmus (which is to say it makes little obvious sense, but involves lots of charmingly fantastical subject matter). Jay's new album for K, Splash, is due out on May 21. It's also the first of two he'll release this year. (The follow-up, Dream Diary, is currently slated for November.) Overachiever, this guy.
