The last few times we've set foot in Evan Voytas' bedroom world–which we imagine is some sort of "fort" made with sheets and blankets and disparate recording gear–he was singing really high. It was funky and sounded like Prince and Kate Bush and Marc Bolan drawing a unicorn on a Lite-Brite together. For new single "Sad, Like Hearts Can Be," he slid down range a bit, into this breathy, swoon-inducing area where titans like Phil Collins and Richard Marx once roamed. It's like that bedroom of his is actually the most comfortable time machine ever.
