DOWNLOAD: The Joy Formidable - Whirring

We recently found ourselves arguing about the importance of band names. Our point was that a great band name can never be undervauled or carelessly chosen. And while the difference between a good one and a bad one is entirely subjective, we can all agree that no one would be rushing out to see Atoms For Peace if wasn't what Thom Yorke was calling his Flea-studded backing band. The Joy Formidable have a great name–it's catchy and accurate, a concise summation of the guitar-pop landslides they're pedaling on new EP A Balloon Called Moaning. That's out in the States on May 4 via Black Bell–the new label helmed by Passion Pit's Ayad Al Adhamy–but propulsive highlight "Whirring" is already here for the taking.
