RCRD OF THE DAY: Yoko Ono - Give Me Something (Junior Boys Remix)
Yoko Ono needs no introduction, but perhaps "Give Me Something" and the new versions of the song ascending the Billboard club charts deserve one. It first appeared on Double Fantasy, the 1980 album Ono made with her late husband John Lennon (it would be his last). In its original form, it's a jagged new wave sprint, punctured only by Ono's feline howl. But here, in the hands of Canada's Junior Boys, it's been thoroughly modernized, suffused with a steadier, slinkier tempo, a stronger bassline, and clusters of modular synth.
