Blitzen Trapper don't write a lot of piano ballads. There was "Not Your Lover" on 2008's Furr, which sounded like Neil Young, but aside from that they tend to wile out in their own oddball corner of the Americanaverse. "Heaven And Earth," though, is a piano ballad. A grand one. There are strings, the piano sound is heavy and warm, and lyrically it couldn't be headier (sample: "There is a love that sleeps inside the canyons of our deepest dreaming lives.") It sounds nothing like Neil Young, but wouldn't be out of place on, say, Use Your Illusion (either volume). Destroyer Of The Void, the forthcoming album it's actually pulled from, arrives on June 8 through Sub Pop.
