PREMIERE: Scuba - So You Think You're Special

Even though Scuba is Paul Rose's dubstep pseudonym (his other being SCB, for techno) and Rose himself curates Hotflush, one of the genre's premiere labels, "So You Think You're Special" isn't really a dubstep song. There is no wobble, no sling blade rhythms, no gooey-gun synths–it's more Phil Collins than dubstep, all slow, gated drums and ephemeral sunrise melancholy. Regardless of what it "is," it's also excellent, one of many soft blows to the head you'll find on Rose's new Scuba album, Triangulation.
