RCRD OF THE DAY: The Invisible - London Girl (Joe Hot Chip Remix)
Hot Chip's vision of club music has always been different. For them, it something to be made poppier, cheekier, more outré, an approach Joe Goddard, as one fifth of the Hot Chip nucleus, uses to great effect in this rerub of London trio The Invisible. What opens with a stammering house pulse, like a drum machine dragging its feet, eventually layers up, synth after vocal after sample after synth, until it's wobbling about like a limbered-up house music Frankenstein. A weird club moment, sure, but the best ones usually are.
