After spending most of the last few years with his other projects Swan Lake and Blackout Beach, Carey Mercer's making 2010 a year for his main band Frog Eyes with the release a new LP called Paul's Tomb: The Triumph. All we have now is opener "A Flower In A Glove," which is nine minutes long and sonically insane (guitars weighed down with blunt-ended distortion, sounding like whack-a-mole mallets dripping with hydrochloric acid; Mercer's words spewing forth from his mouth like they've been bottled up for centuries; drums exploding in the background, as though they subbed rack toms for timpanis). Certainly enough to convince us to mark the 'ol Google Cal for April 27, when it arrives via Dead Oceans.
