It's not every day we get a proper composer around here, but that's exactly what Ryan Lott aka Son Lux is. Since he debuted in 2008 with At War With Walls & Mazes, he's been doing composerly things like writing scores for dance companies, arranging parts for the new These New Puritans record, remixing a raft of My Brightest Diamond material, and tinkering away at his own stuff, which sounds like a streetfight between DJ Assault and Van Dyke Parks. Below are one of his MBD reinterpretations (though it's not on the EP Asthmatic Kitty just released) and a pull from his new Weapons EP for anticon. One's lush and delicate, the other's a bit of a beastly headtrip. Naturally, they both have righteous strings.
