Generally, the point of remixing non-dancey songs (or at least, the solicitors' desire) is to add motion–the centrifugal bass figure and the piston-like chug of 4/4 kick drums. Shit you can get your rocks off to, as it were. In this respect, London duo Monarchy have successfully reinterpreted Fyfe Dangerfield's "She Needs Me," though they've also managed to synthesize something more intangible–the pure, democratic zeal found on every wedding's dance floor. It's a diversion from club music's current infatuation with subterranean dankness and/or laser gunning, but at least we're smiling again.
