DOWNLOAD: The Very Best - Julia (Javelin Re-Do)

We expected the cousins/MPC nerds in Javelin, known crate diggers that they are, to rework The Very Best's "Julia" into a weird-ass brew of bits and pieces from records we've never heard of. Not sure if they actually did that, because this song is surprisingly rockist and cohesive–bright guitars chiming in on the downbeats, drums fraying in the mix, uppity bass pushing it along. It sounds like a band, which is probably a testament to just how able these dudes are on those MPCs more than anything else. You already know TVB's Warm Heart Of Africa is out now; Javelin just released a 12-inch through Thrill Jockey, with a new LP due in 2010 on Luaka Bop.
