There's a connection between Bunnymen and mirrors that I can't quite place right now, but Ian McCulloch returns to British guitar music 2009 looking to take a bit back from the bands he gave influence to: "Life Of 1,000 Crimes" sounding a little like most of the bands that have emerged from Liverpool since Echo and pals first split in 1988 (The Zutons, The La's, The Coral). Still, there's no mistaking a croon like that - not even through the fug of inter-decade time travel.
