I'm not sure how to react to this. I turned 24 the other day, and while fully aware of the responsibilities that'll come to tear me from myself as the years remorselessly unfurl, I never thought I'd be nodding away to what is, essentially, a self-consciously 'world' music remix of a folktronica track. But, somehow - somehow - this really works: Paddy Steer pushing Wigan lass Nancy Elizabeth's original into Saharan heat, amid sweltering strings and drained, percussive shang-la-lang. There are bleeps too, just to make things more alien - or at least they would sound alien if more distant from Radiohead's "Packt Like Sardines In A Crushd Tin Box". As it is they complement the familiar, Yorke-ish intonation in Elizabeth's voice perfectly - maybe that's how this one works. Who knows. No-one will ever really know. I'm off to eat falafel and juggle.
Sounds Like: Radiohead, Group Doueh, Vashti Bunyan
