Metal-flamenco gets thrown around a lot these days. Ha, just kidding. Rodrigo y Gabriela's sophomore album 11:11 came out on ATO Records this week and it’s a beautiful, thrashing, dance of fire. It feels both new and primal, and we’re irrationally glad the year is two thousand aught nine, because the otherworldly power harnessed would surely have had the pair chased with sticks in another time and place. Only a deal with the devil could make fingers this quick! Below enjoy “Buster Voodoo” from the new album, plus a track from their classical-guitar-blend debut—a Metallica cover so spectacular that Lars didn’t even sue.
