Q: How many friggin’ bands can Zach Hill be in? A: As many as he likes, if they’re going to be as good as Chll Pll. His latest new outlet (as of now — that could change by the end of the day) finds the avant-rad drummer teaming up with Zac Nelson of the shimmeringly ambient Hexlove. In this case, one plus one equals a big two: “She Owns” is a glistening, punishing, perfect circle of a tune about getting out from under a girl’s spell. Chll Pll’s October album is Aggressively Humble (though you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s called “Ten Rips”), and while they have no live dates booked, you can find Hill playing as half of Wavves for the next month and a half, starting tomorrow.
