EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: Your Twenties - Blue Jeans (Blur Cover) + Saturday Night Live
My guess is that Your Twenties were fairly devastated with Blur's decision not to follow up those reunion shows with new material. If you aren't familiar with Blur b-sides then it's hard to tell immediately which of these songs is the Blur cover and which is a Your Twenties original, but it's "Saturday Night Live" that's fresh: albeit pervaded with a "Tracy Jacks" style mono-hum and "Oily Water"'s scratching guitars. We like it though, perhaps for the same reasons we liked Blur's reunion shows. Good songs, innit? It's oddly refreshing to have something that's content just to be a "good song", rather than a post-tribal thinkpiece on 'the ballad' as empathic concept, or a dollop of glitched-out future funk. Anyway, way to go, Your Twenties.
