Hard to say why, but Tuesday just feels like a good day to focus. No melodramatic Monday blues or mid-week blahs or Friday freakouts; on Tuesday, you kind of just cut the shit and get some things done. This astonishingly constructed Lokai track, taken from the duo’s new Transition, could help. The first minute and a half introduces its components—a bell, some digital haze, a few guitar strings and a little metal percussion, all in abstract formation. Then a beat more or less just occurs, and suddenly everything organizes around it with a logic that rivals gravity. Listen a little passively and watch how it draws your ears in. Ah, those details; now your senses are sharpened. That’s how they do electronics in Vienna: precise, martini-dry and sexy like architecture.
