Generationals formed out of the ashes of the underappreciated Baton Rouge indie-pop band the Eames Era, who may have been fronted by an actual elf. But Ted Joyner and Grant Widmer, who founded Generationals last year back in their home of New Orleans, aren’t interested in repeating their past—they have quite evolved. Their debut, Con Law, is a widescreen display of pop styles from across the decades, immaculately produced (by the Oranges Band’s Daniel Black) and featuring not one single moment that’s less than crisply melodic. “Nobody Could Change Your Mind” is about inevitability, possibly as influenced by one’s personal style. Think about it…if you want.
