Tanya Morgan is like kryptonite for the indier-than-thou set.  Go to the closest dive, sidle up to the biggest music nerd there, and slyly mention these Brooklynati Vibe darlings.  10 bucks the dude will stammer his best softshoe, nodding in fake recognition with oh yeah, that Tanya Morgan, she’s the new Santogold, right? That’s when you dock up the remix of “So Damn Down”. Replete with strutty 70’s guitar and sidewalk lyricism, it’s the kind of rework that potentially outshines the original. Von Pea, Donwill and Ilyas have never fully rationalized why they chose a name that conjures more Nora Jones than Cool C, but it doesn’t really matter. You’ve already been crowned hip-hop-king-by-association and dude's gifted you the last Bass Ale in the joint.

Sounds like: Lupe Fiasco, Pharcyde, Mos Def, Talib Kweli

I def like this more then

I def like this more then the original. Didn't like the orig til about a week ago.

really?? seriously?? the

really?? seriously?? the original is so much better. they sound 10x better with the more natural flow than the slower remix. The rhythm and beats accompany the vocals more perfectly in the original. This is my first time hearing them. I thought they were just "not horrible" in their overall package until i heard the original. Then i realized that they have more potential than that remix. sorry just the .02 i had to put in

They both definitely have

They both definitely have their merits--it's cool they can swing to both ends of the spectrum, most hip hop acts can't do both a jazzy r&b version and homegrown street version that sound so different and are both really good in their own right.

I keep changing my mind on which I like better, though the vid for So Damn Down is worth checking out and could sway anyone in that direction based on those amazing mouthpieces alone.
