Helado Negro is Roberto Carlos Lange, producer, Prefuse 73 collaborator and Asthmatic Kitty-signed solo artist, whose debut album, Awe Owe, is out August 4th. Lange started the Helado Negro project after moving to New York three years ago, piecing together the record with MPC loops and delicate home recordings of friends and himself. "Deja" explores the foggier intersection between sampler weirdoism and strummed folk, like being guided through a wet cave in the dark only to come upon a room full of Mermaids playing clarinets. If that's too hard to picture (sorry), it will at least mellow your Monday.
