VIDEO THRWBCK: Basement Jaxx - Rendez Vu (1999)
The dance music community has always chafed at the notion that Basement Jaxx represented the scene, figuring them for pop hacks rather than legit artists. Yet it takes a lot of skill to have crossover success with a house track, and Basement Jaxx do so with style. It doesn't hurt that they go heavy on the melody and hooks, but BJ are also great visual/conceptual artists as well. "Rendez Vu" is just one of the many videos they turned in that grabbed the attention of punters who might've otherwise ignored them. Here's to well rounded success.
