VIDEO THRWBCK: The Buzzcocks - Everybody's Happy Nowadays (1979)
When most people think of early UK punk, their minds leap to two obvious choices -- Sex Pistols and The Clash. The Buzzcocks always stood just a head shorter than their more notorious peers, but their songs were arguably better and their appeal broader than cults of personality (ahem, Joe Strummer, ahem, Sid Vicious). Here's one of my favorite Buzzcocks cuts that showcases their ability to be quite catchy and subtly biting, also.
