A mutual fascination for synthesizers and gear first brought Tanner Ross and James Watts together to make tracks, but it's their love for creeping out dancers that birthed the project Voodeux. Their finely-tuned techno productions seem haunted by the souls of dancers, clubs, labels and artists who've met their end, a phenomenon they explore more fully in The Paranormal, their full-length debut for Dirtybird sub-label Mothership. Ross and Watts incite goosebumps with unsettling minor chord progressions, growling bass, crazed robotic rhythms and spooky motifs, all of which are laid out in this promo mix for the LP. And while a few moments here and there are unsettling, Voodeux's music has a strange allure that goads listeners into exploring the dark side with their tunes as the soundtrack.
