In the late eighties, Wendy James broke hearts and stereos with British pop-punk group Transvision Vamp, a quartet that never truly broke in America but racked up a few popular singles and albums in the UK and Europe. After the group split in 1991, James released three solo records, including one written specifically for her by Elvis Costello (1993's Now Ain't The Time For Tears.) Now she's prepping a new one, entitled I Came Here To Blow Minds and recorded at A.P.C.'s studio in Paris, a place we hear has previously only been available to Jarvis Cocker, Jonathan Richman, Wes Andersen and Sofia Coppola. "You Tell Me" is the first leak from the sessions, an enjoyably scratchy garage-pop tune that shows this now-veteran hasn't dulled in the slightest.

Sounds like: Velocity Girl, Veruca Salt, Bow Wow Wow
