Now that vinyl's is experiencing a popularity boom, some indie bands are searching for even more archaic media formats to stand out. One such group is the Leeds-based trio Sky Larkin, whose Antibodies will see exclusive release on C60 cassette tape, perhaps as a subtle nod to the C86 mini-genre that helped launch indie rock. But that isn't to say Sky Larkin make jangly rock or feature fey vocals; on the contrary, it seems they rumble with the kind of gusto that would make The Thermals proud. But Lull's "Channel Switch Mix" of "Matador," also included on Antibodies, suggests the dance floor is also fair game. From a low end-heavy base, the tune weaves together strands of guitar, drum kit and glimmering synth melodies around Katie's determined vocals. And if you download the tune here, you won't have to dig out your mom's old Walkman.
Sounds like: Bjork, Los Campesinos!
