EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: Au Revoir Simone - Shadows (It's A Fine Line Remix)

If this track is any judge, the all-girl Brooklyn nymphs Au Revoir Simone will be cutting new territory with their new album, Still Night, Still Light, (produced by Thom Monahan (Vetiver, Little Joy), out in June). The girls purport that the new record is "exploring reflection, seeking, questioning, and losing one's way home." Unlike their prior soothing, ear-friendly electro pop, the new album airs much more on the experimental side. This remixed "Shadows" track churns out maze-like layers of wonky ambient textures, meshing analog synth, clock like ticks, and deep bass. (After all, the remixers It's A Fine Line (i.e. Tim Paris and Ivan Smagghe), have also tinkered with tracks by labels like Kompakt and History Clock.) But even the lyrics seem eerily unhinged and haunted...
