True story: when we turned "I Want You To Know" on this morning, J. Mascis' thick fist of fuzz came out of the speakers and used our eardrums as speed bags. It was something very close to painful. We cribbed the volume knob back a little bit and familiar things came into picture: Neil Young-ish chords smeared in amp waste, slacker hero mumbling, the rest of the band fighting to be heard through the walls of guitars. Man, it's still really nice to have Dinosaur Jr. back. The Massachusetts trio are releasing a new album, Farm, June 23rd through Jagjaguwar, their second since the original lineup reunited in 2005. They're celebrating release week with a run of tiny shows in San Diego, LA, and Brooklyn. Dates up at their MySpace.
