The Fly Girlz are two adolescent MCs from Brownsville, NY, a rather tough section of Eastern Brooklyn. Originally formed as a five-piece (hence the above photo), the group met at an LEAP-sponsored music program at their school, PS 284, led by Sam Hillmer of Zs. Hiller's Representing NYC is an initiative to "bring east Brooklyn youth together with indie producers who have moved to their neighborhoods," aiding kids in making and releasing full albums of their own work. The Fly Girlz are the first project and their record, Da Bratz From Da Ville, out on True Panther Sounds (home to Lemonade and Girls), comes loaded with spooky left-field productions from Excepter's Nathan Corbin, aka Zebrablood.
