British trio Doves have never rushed their releases, allowing each of their albums a lengthy gestation period before putting it to the people. Their fourth album, Kingdom of Rust, arrives four years after its predecessor and offers a further maturation of the group's string-heavy Brit-Pop sound. Norwegian mega-remixer, Prins Thomas, was brought on board to guide the title track onto the dance floor, gently stretching it for DJs' hands while preserving its pastoral vibes. In fact, its pitter patter snare calls to mind the stride of Johnny Cash while tenderly ticking up the BPM. Ever perceptive of an original's strengths, Thomas leaves most of Doves melancholic melodies alone while applying a shimmering layer of "diskomiks" stardust. His version glides easily through your ears before coming to rest in your heart.
