Brooklyn songstress Jenny Owen Youngs has a name of a Southern cowgirl, a delicate vocal twang that sounds eerily like Jolie Holland, and a consortium of Brooklyn-based musician amigos that believe in her. All of these attributes are visible in her new album Transmitter Failure, in which she mixes breezy folk, hook-heavy guitar pop, a sprinkling of horns, flute, glockenspiel, and contributions from Ben Kalb (New Pornographers), Regina Spektor, and Meredith Godreau (Gregory And The Hawk). Unabashedly poppier than other tracks on her new album, "Led To The Sea" has an intro that sounds influenced by Arcade Fire's Rebellion (Lies) before carving into a saccharine beat. Youngs is at her best during the verses when she slows down and lets her Feist and Joanna Newsom-esque vocals flirtatiously drawl out and hang loosely.

Sounds Like: Jolie Holland, Joanna Newsom, Feist
