Akron/Family's new album Set 'Em Wild, Set 'Em Free, their first for Dead Oceans, drops on May 5th, an apt time of year for the Pennsylvania trio's salt-of-the-earth psych-folk. "River" is the track from the record that's getting passed around, a stroll through foliage of guitar strings and shakers that stumbles upon a patch of nervous woodwinds about two-thirds of the way through. It's a pretty cool moment where you're left wondering if things are over and the fade out is going to kick in, but then the bass rounds up and the marching snare hits are back and the band saunters further into the forest. Is it weird that this reminds us of The Canterbury Tales? It just sounds so sprightly.

Akron/Family is heading out on tour the day Set 'Em Wild hits stores. Dates after the links.
