EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: Chase Pagan - Gun and the Sword

I'd imagine that the bluesy rage that comes from a young artist gifted with intense poetic dexterity, musical aptitude and the last name Pagan (not to mention the full name "Chase Pagan." Geez, was he neighbors with "Mr. Hunt Occultist" or what?), who is forced to blend in within Wynne, Arkansas (population of 8,615), fuels this track "Gun and Sword." Regardless, Chase Pagan's talent is glaringly evident. "Gun and the Sword" has a schizophrenic, fiery folk feel to it as it sweeps from darker, orchestral (almost Sweeney Todd-esque) segments to stripped down, chipper piano pop. We'll have to wait and see Pagan live; he's supposed spellbind during his live shows - see-sawing between keys, guitar, Mellotron and human whistles. "Bells and Whistles," his upcoming full-length, is set for Spring, 2009 release.

Sounds Like: Ferraby Lionheart, Andrew Bird, Okkervil River, Corey Chisel
