DOWNLOAD: Fever Ray - Keep The Streets Empty For Me + Three More

(Photo: Johan Renck)
By now you're probably familiar with Fever Ray, the solo project from Karin Dreijer Andersson of The Knife. Born in 2006 when the promotional duties for Silent Shout died down and Andersson had her second child, Fever Ray was a surprisingly useful creative outlet for Andersson when she didn't think she'd need one, a place for her sparse, sleepwalkish ideas after the pregnancy. Flush with songs but with no wherewithal to make them whole, she turned to Knife mixing engineer Christoffer Berg, who helped piece together the project's self-titled debut. After not-so-quietly building buzz for a few months, the record finally comes out on the 30th in Europe and today and yesterday in the States and Australia/New Zealand, respectively (it's already out in the UK and Scandanavia.) We've been exploring its depths for some time, fully into what could be described as game-hunting tundra music--primal, minimalist beats (with almost no snares) paired with little more than Andersson's shamanic wisp. In short, it's really, really good to listen to when it's cold and dark outside. We've got a download of the album track "Keep The Streets Empty For Me," along with streams of three other songs, so take a taste of the record below and hope, like us, that some US dates get announced soon.
Sounds like: The Knife, Praveen & Benoit
