Jens Carelius has the voice of a man who has seen too much, travelled too far and has seen more heartbreak than one person can handle.  Cleverly melding the themes and delicacy of 60s English folk and the intricate guitar work and weariness of 30s American blues, Carelius is a young Robert Johnson, a solo Norwegian Yardbirds.  "Faces Leaving on a Train," comes from his full-band album, The Beat of the Travel and the painfully intimate "Summer Skin," is off his debut, The First Songs, recorded in 2 days onto a 2-track player.  When fronting a band Carelius' voice takes on a certain confidence and power, but it is in the more visceral moments of simple voice and guitar that he truly shines, as he does in the haunting video, as a beacon in the midst of darkness.

Sounds Like: Phosphorescent, Bill Patton, the Yardbirds
