Being described as "the best unsigned Norwegian band on MySpace," might sound like quaint praise in 09 but there are a couple of notable achievements in that accolade. Manatee Racket look like they all need parental permission to play at a club past 10pm, but they've managed to complete two extremely pro EPs on their own, full of Brit-accented hyper-catchy tunes that sound like a less bloody and friendlier younger brother of the Cribs. Live, the band is all lanky limbs and long stringy hair, kinetic and spastic energy, performing songs like "Sarah Went to Cinema" about kids and the things that bum them out over a beat designed to induce acute bouts of dancing. Not too shabby for five young dudes from southern Norway.
