What begins with tumbled laundry toms eventually cedes to a swaying cadence where dirtied 808s and pulled rubber background guitars sound like crying whales. There is also a dude singing seance-talk to you: "The clouds become mushrooms." WTF? This is the warped, cultish sonic world of Clipd Beaks, an Oakland band who turned some heads with their seriously-overlooked 2007 album Hoarse Lords and will likely blow more minds with a new album due this summer. Before that, they'll release a seven-inch on March 10th through Lovepump United featuring "Visions" backed with the far more stoney "Dank Swamp" (song title of '09?). You can buy it over at the Lovepump store for only five bones.
