Like an operatic Slowdive broadcasting from the Mir space station, Montreal's Young Galaxy are some of neo-shoegaze's brightest stars. Their just-under-danceable tempos are smothered in loads of keyboard pads and the reverberated Kate Bush-isms of lead singer Catherine McCandless, and not so hidden under all that are great, emotive indie-rock songs. Their new album Invisible Republic doesn't have a release date quite yet, but they've made "Long Live The Fallen World" available for free download to whet your tastebuds and space out your medulla. Trust us, it's not as morose as the title suggests.

Young Galaxy plays Brooklyn's Music Hall Of Williamsburg tomorrow alongside The XYZ Affair and Pete and J. They'll also be doing a run of shows on their way down to SXSW, those dates are up at their MySpace.

Sounds like: School Of Seven Bells, Luna, Slowdive
